About Trusted Skin Reviews
We started Trusted Skin Reviews because, like you, we were tired of wasting money on products that promised miracles but delivered disappointment. After dozens of years combined in beauty journalism and countless bottles of serums later, we knew there had to be a better way to help people find skincare that actually works.
Why We Started This Site
Let’s be real — we’ve been there: standing in the skincare aisle, overwhelmed by choices and skeptical of every “revolutionary” claim. With our team’s combined knowledge, we understand ingredients — but it wasn’t until we dove deep into K-beauty that we realized just how much misinformation exists in the skincare world. We created Trusted Skin Reviews with our incredible colleagues because you deserve honest, thorough reviews from people who actually use these products for weeks, not just swatch them once for Instagram.
What Makes Us Different
We Buy Everything Ourselves
Trust me, PR packages are tempting, but we purchase most products with our own money. When we do receive samples, we’ll tell you upfront. No hidden sponsorships here.
We’re Science Nerds (In a Good Way)
Our chemistry backgrounds aren’t just for show — we actually read those clinical studies brands reference. If a product claims to boost collagen by 97%, we’re checking the research.
We Have Different Skin, Different Stories
Between combination skin, Sarah’s acne journey, and Emma’s eczema battles, we’ve pretty much covered every skin concern. We test on ourselves, not just theorize.
We Use Products Like Normal Humans
We test everything for at least 4 weeks in our real routines — through workouts, long days, and yes, falling asleep with makeup on sometimes. Real life happens.
How We Actually Test Products
Here’s exactly what happens when we review something (because transparency is everything):
- Week 1: We examine the packaging, smell, texture, and ingredients list. First impressions matter, but they’re not everything
- Weeks 2-4: Daily use and documentation. We take photos (so many photos), note any changes, reactions, or improvements
- The Deep Dive: We research every key ingredient, compare prices with similar products, and check if the brand’s claims hold up
- Reality Check: We consider who this product is actually for — because that $200 serum might be amazing, but not everyone needs it
- The Verdict: Honest pros, cons, and our take on whether it’s worth your hard-earned money
Meet The Trusted Skin Reviews Team
I couldn’t do this without my two incredible colleagues — these women are the real MVPs of skincare knowledge, and I’m lucky to work with them every day.
Sarah Kim – Our Resident Research Genius
Sarah is the one who reads scientific papers for fun (seriously). With her dermatological research background, she’s our go-to for understanding why that new peptide everyone’s talking about might actually be worth the hype. Her personal battle with adult acne makes her reviews for acne-prone skin incredibly valuable — she’s tried everything so you don’t have to. Sarah has this amazing ability to explain complex science in a way that makes sense, and she’s never met a clinical trial she didn’t want to analyze. She’s also investigating how diet, sleep, and stress affect our skin because she believes in the full picture, not just what’s in the bottle.
Jennifer Choi – Our Clean Beauty Detective
Jennifer Choi has been obsessed with skincare since her first breakout at 13—an obsession that led to a Chemistry degree and, eventually, beauty journalism. She believes skincare isn’t about perfection; it’s about understanding your skin and treating it well. With combination skin that keeps her honest, she’s passionate about anti-aging ingredients that actually work and K-beauty innovations that haven’t hit the mainstream yet. When she’s not testing a new essence, you’ll find her mixing custom face masks in her kitchen or trying to convince her husband that yes, he does need a skincare routine.
Emma Chen – Our Clean Beauty Detective
Emma joined us with a mission: to decode the confusing world of clean beauty. After years of managing eczema and reactive skin, she knows firsthand how frustrating it is to find products that won’t cause flare-ups. Her certifications in aromatherapy and herbalism mean she can tell you exactly why that lavender oil might be irritating your skin, not calming it. Emma digs deep into brand ethics, investigates greenwashing claims, and isn’t afraid to call out companies that use “natural” as a marketing gimmick. She’s taught us that clean beauty isn’t just about ingredients — it’s about sustainability, ethics, and transparency too.
Our Promise to You
Look, we know skincare can feel overwhelming, expensive, and sometimes like you need a PhD to understand it. That’s why we’re here. We’ll never recommend something just because it’s trendy or expensive. We’ll always tell you if that drugstore dupe works just as well as the luxury version. And most importantly, we’ll be honest — even when brands won’t like it.
Your skin is unique, and what works for us might not work for you. That’s okay! Our goal is to give you enough information to make confident decisions, not to dictate your routine. We’re just three skincare-obsessed women who want to share what we’ve learned through years of trial, error, and way too many empties.
